Mediation
Mediation is when a third party neutral assists parties to negotiate a settlement. The process is private and confidential and enforceable by law. The Mediator acts a as a neutral and facilitates the process.
The benefits of mediation:
The control of the process stays with the parties, instead of a judge or jury deciding for you.
The cost of mediation is far less than taking a case through the legal system. Costs are also reduced because the case can resolve much quicker than the months or years that a court case takes to get through the system.
The Mediation Process is private and cannot be used in any proceeding or court.
Any decision agreed in mediation is a mutual one so the likelihood of the parties being satisfied with the solution and following through with the terms of agreement are much better than litigation where someone looses.

Mediation charges are $300.00 per hour for two parties and are usually split between the parties. Additional parties pay $150.00 per party in addition to the $300.00 rate.
Half day Mediation is considered between three and four hours and is $450.00 per party.
Full day Mediation is $1200.00 per party and is based on a eight hour day.
Arbitration
Arbitration is a form of ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) that can be voluntary or mandatory. The parties are referred to an Arbitrator (an expert in the field) or an Arbitration Panel (usually three experts) and a binding decision that is enforceable is made. The use of Arbitration is often seen in Consumer, employment and personal injury matters.

Faster and more cost effective than going through the traditional legal process.

Edie Premazon, JD charges $300.00 per hour for legal matters on an average case. She also will quote a flat fee for a start to charge for most matters. Initial consultation is free and a retainer is required in most cases.
